Our Lady of Perpetual Help
'Mistress' Ezili Freda, goddess of love and luxury, is a flirtatious
light-skinned Creole woman who adores fine clothes, jewels,

and causes her to weep. Ezili is manifest in the bejeweled
Mater Dolorosa, her heart pierced with a knife. The Loa of
Love and Fecundity, Ezili is the wife of Badagri.
Erzili also has a union with Damballah and Agowe. However,
her heart belongs to Ogoun Feray, son of Badagri.
When Ezili becomes very sad and melancholic or is in the
presence of Damballah, Erzili ages instantly and becomes
Grann (Grandmother) Ezili. The tears of Grann Ezili make her
young again.
The colors of Erzili are blue, red and multi-color. The symbols
of the Loa are the dagger (pierces her heart), silver chains,
kerchiefs of blue and yellow.
